Professor Wojciech Golusiński Honored with the Title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Medical University of Silesia

On October 3, 2025, in the Prof. Zahorski Auditorium A3 in Katowice-Ligota, the 77th Inauguration of the 2025/2026 Academic Year of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice took place. The ceremony had a special character – it was combined with the awarding of the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Professor Wojciech Golusiński, an outstanding otorhinolaryngologist, head and neck surgery specialist, and highly respected scientist of international renown.

The title was conferred by decision of the Rector of the Medical University of Silesia, Prof. Tomasz Szczepański, PhD, DSc, following the unanimous approval of the University Senate and Council. The promoter in the procedure was Prof. Maciej Misiołek, PhD, DSc.

Professor Golusiński was honored for his pioneering achievements in the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancers, the implementation of modern surgical techniques (including robotics), as well as his educational and preventive activities, including co-creating the European Make Sense campaign and the National Head and Neck Cancer Prevention Program.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the scientific, medical, and political communities, as well as rectors of universities from Poznań and Silesia.

Professor Golusiński was also awarded the Medal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland for his outstanding contributions to the development of science, medicine, and public health.
